Tech Prep, a shortening of the term Technical Preparation, is a course of study designed to meet the needs of the emerging workforce. Through a blending of higher level academic and vocational courses, Tech Prep prepares students for the advanced courses required by two-year technical and community college programs. Following the college prep option prepares students for a four-year course of study at a college or university.
Competition for new businesses and industries is fierce. Just as the United States is in competition with other countries in the world-wide market place, each state is competing for new and expanding industries and economic growth. To be competitive, we must respond to the changing technologies in the workplace. The Tech Prep program provides students and opportunity to become part of a technically sophisticated workforce which can attract and retain new businesses and industries.
This writing outlines course offerings though Forest High School and Forest Scott County Vocational - Technical Center. By choosing a career cluster at the Ninth Grade level, a student will prepare for careers in a general area. Career paths are flexible, though, and a student can change goals along the way.
